Kasha Malewska, therapist at Piccadilly Psychotherapy Practice

Kasha Malewska

Dip. Psych. Couns.

I offer Gestalt psychotherapy to adults experiencing difficulties with relationships, sexuality, anxiety and trauma. My background in philosophy and somatic practice shapes my interest in how our thoughts, feelings and bodies are connected, and how greater self-awareness can open up possibilities for change.

A little about how I work

I came to psychotherapy through philosophy and through the body.

I have an MA in philosophy, where I wrote about self-actualisation, and before training as a psychotherapist I worked for many years as a somatic practitioner. Both experiences continue to shape the way I work with people.

I work from a Gestalt perspective. For me, this means being curious about what is happening between us, here and now, rather than trying to fit you into a diagnosis or work out what is “wrong” with you. Your history matters, of course, but so does what happens when you talk about it. The way you tell a story, what becomes difficult to say, what you notice in yourself, or what changes between us can all tell us something.

I also pay attention to the body. Sometimes the body notices something before we have words for it. You might notice your chest tightening, holding your breath, feeling restless, or suddenly wanting to change the subject. We can become curious about these moments without forcing them or needing to make sense of everything immediately. We work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there is a clear problem: anxiety, difficult relationships, shame, feeling stuck or simply not feeling like yourself. Sometimes there is only a sense that something isn’t quite right, or a feeling that you keep ending up in the same situations despite wanting something different.

I am particularly interested in the patterns that develop in our relationships: how we connect, how we protect ourselves, what we expect from others, and what happens when we feel hurt, rejected or unseen. I also work with shame and with experiences of trauma, always with care and without rushing into places you are not ready to go.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need from therapy before you begin. We can start with where you are and find our way from there.
